Podcaster Greg Soros Teaches Creators the Business of Audio
Plenty of aspiring creators can record an episode. Far fewer know how to pitch an advertiser or negotiate a distribution agreement. Greg Soros, founder of Podcraft Media Lab, built his mentorship program to close that gap.
“Most mentorship programs focus on creative development, which is important but incomplete,” Soros says. His approach adds business fundamentals, including how to pitch to advertisers, negotiate distribution agreements, and build sustainable revenue models. “That’s what transforms a hobby into a career,” he adds.
Training That Covers the Full Picture
Greg Soros podcaster draws on a mix of formal study and professional experience. His technical background comes from Berklee College of Music, and he later worked at major podcasting studios. Mentees benefit from both. Lessons span narrative structure, sound design, monetization strategies, and audience development.
Greg Soros also makes his industry network available. Participants are introduced to potential sponsors, distributors, and collaborators who can help a show grow. Those introductions can give a promising project the backing it needs to reach listeners.
Former mentee Maria Rodriguez, whose investigative podcast “Border Stories” recently won a podcasting award, describes the value directly. “He doesn’t just teach production techniques; he shares the business acumen that transforms passion projects into sustainable media ventures,” she says.
Opening Doors for Underrepresented Creators
Soros mentors creators from underrepresented communities through the Podcast Academy’s diversity fellowship program. He could have devoted Podcraft Media Lab entirely to Fortune 500 clients. He chose to set aside a portion of his time for this work instead.
The results have been strong. Several mentees have secured major distribution deals, and three shows topped six figures in downloads during their first year. Major podcast networks have noticed, and several competitors are now developing similar programs. Greg Soros has helped launch numerous independent shows this way, and the podcaster’s investment has paid back in ways he did not expect.
For him, it all comes back to who gets heard. “Great content comes from diverse perspectives and authentic voices,” says Greg Soros. See related link for more information.
